Tired of getting pipped at the post in Best Dressed competitions?

With this weeks Killarney races, the Tattersalls Millions Champion Stakes in September and Leopardstown races in December its not too late to be in with a chance to win a “Best Dressed” competition and with it a plethora of prizes ranging from diamond bracelets and vouchers worth thousands to VIP trips for two to Paris.  Surely, that has to be worth getting dressed up to the nines, paying admission fees (on average €20), parading in front of judges noses until you get “noticed” and missing half the actual races.

Judging by past competitions, if you are a model, an ex-model or ex- Miss Ireland, if you are a fashion designer, a milliner, own a boutique or are a friend of designer/milliner/boutique owner you should certainly enter.  If you don’t fall into one of those categories, your odds are longer than a rocking horse’s in the Derby, unless of course you follow my Best Dressed Competition Tips for Long-shots.
Feed into the trend for recessionista chic.  Develop a winning outfit backstory.

Your outfit consists of something old, something new, something you made yourself and something you bought in a discount store preferably Penny’s or Tesco’s. You found your dress/jacket/trousers in a trunk in the attic belonging to your mother/grandmother/father. You stayed up late making your hat out of recycled newspaper/plastic/coke cans. And your coat cost €10 which justifies your €300 spend on your designer bag or shoes. Trust me, winner alright.
